Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Dart - Plaxton GNE operated 10 Plaxton Pointer Darts, 8090 - 8092 and 8110 - 8116. 2 of them were sold outside of Go-Ahead, whilst 7 went to Go West Midlands T/A Diamond. 8110 is still hanging on somehow.

Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Dart SLF - Marshall Capital In 2004/2005 Go North East aquired 24 Dennis Dart SLFs with Marshall bodywork from London. They are allocated to Chester Le Street and Sunderland, with the vast majority at Sunderland being painted into Drifter Livery for services 60,61 and 62.

Wed 11th Mar 2009: Dennis Dart SLF - Plaxton Pointer 2 In 2006 Go North East aquired 4 Dennis Darts SLF with Plaxton Pointer 2 bodies. Details of former Operators and registrations of these vehicles can be found below. Upon arrival to GNE all 4 vehicles were based at Stanley depot for the Stanley Shuttle, they then went to Winlaton for service 47 and weren't considered big enough. They then went to Washington for services X3 and X4. More recently they have moved to Chester Le Street depot and can be found on anything.

Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Lance - Alexander 4768 J110SPB is the only Alexander bodied Lance in Go North East, origianlly it was a Dennis demonstrator and it is one of the first lances built. It was aquired by Low Fell Coaches, and this vehicle then passed on to Go North East when it bought Low Fell Coaches. It is an active vehicle at Percy Main, been used as a tow bus when required. It then got replaced by 8201 which became the new tow bus (It didn't last long, see SPDs for details), and 4768 was orignally withdrawn, but however, B10B 4808 went up in flames, and 4768 was used to replace it, where it recieved a dot matrix blind. It then returned to Percy Main in Autumn 2006 and remained there until withdrawal in February 2007.

Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Lance - Optare Sigma When this batch of vehicles orignally arrived they were used on routes in competition against OK Travel. After been used on the Way Ahead services, they were based at Gateshead. Then when the Solars arrived they were split between Percy Main and South Shields. However the batch has been split even more, and some are now back at Gateshead.

Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Lance SLF - Wright Pathfinder 320 The first Low Floor buses to be bought by Go North East, of which 4769 was the First Lance SLF to be built for service (first was a development chassis) and it has the first Pathfinder 320 body. They are still at their orignal depot Percy Main, and are often found on the routes they were bought for the 325/326, though they can creep on to other services.

Fri 27th Jan 2006: Dennis Trident - Plaxton President After three batches of East Lancs bodied Tridents, Go North East decided to go for some Plaxton President bodied Tridents for the 21 group and the 722/723 & 724. Currently they are divided between Percy Main and Chester Le Street. The 2 Presidents at PM are in DFDS Livery, while the Presidents at Chester Le Street are painted pink for the Angel services 21/22. Orignally there was 15 Plaxton Presidents, however 8 have gone to Oxford 3881-3884/3892-3895.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: Leyland National Mk2 The Leyland National was the NBC standard single decker, and Northern operated some of the first varients. Northern had both Mk1 and Mk2 styles. All of GNE National Mk2s are now withdrawn and sold on, but a number survive in Preservation, plus a handful ran with the training school for a few years. But these were replaced in 2006.

Tue 10th Feb 2009: Leyland Olympian - Alexander Belfast RH GNE acquired 6 Dublin Bus specification Leyland Olympians with Alexander Belfast RH bodywork in 2005. They were all new to Dublin Bus. 3947 - 3949 operated in the Isle of Man before going to Ensign Bus then onwards to Go North East, whilse 3950 - 3952 came from Dublin Bus to Ensign, then onwards to Go North East. 3950 was the first Leyland Olympian delivered to Dublin Bus as their RH1.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: Leyland Olympian - Alexander RH Go-Ahead Northern ordered 5 Alexander bodied Olympians which arrived in October 1989. All 5 have since departed Go North East.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: Leyland Olympian - ECW The Leyland Olympian / ECW was one of the main combinations purchased by Northern in the NBC era. The B-reg and C-Reg Olympians were one of a kind has they had a Cummins L10 engine coupled up to a Voith 4 speed gearbox, which produced some spectacular performances. 3 remains, though how long they will last isn't bright, with they home depot closing down.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: Leyland Olympian - Northern Counties Palatine 1 Go North East operates many Leyland Olympians. Although all the Northern Counties bodied examples were brought second hand. 3806 - 3810 (there was a 3805 but that burnt out soon after purchase). The other Northern Counties Olympians were purchased second hand off Arriva London (Via Ensign Bus) and have been converted to single door. They can be found at Chester Le Street, Stanley and Percy Main depot, with those at Percy Main been found on the Bargain Bus services.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: Leyland Olympian - Roe The only Roe Bodied Olympian ever operated by Go North East. It was on loan from Ensign to cover for the delivery of the second hand Olympians from London and Isle of Man. It was numbered 9006, based at Bishop Auckland, and ran in the colours of Eastbourne Buses.

Wed 1st Feb 2006: MCW Metrobus Mk2 The MCW Metrobus was purchased alongside the Leyland Olympian in the NBC era. With the closure of Bishop Auckland in 2006, the remaining Metrobuses were withdrawn and have since left the fleet.

Sun 5th Feb 2006: Optare Alero Go North East only had one Optare Alero, and it was loaned from Durham County Council for the Cockfield Connection service, though due to the closure of Bishop Auckland depot, the service passed to Arriva, along with the vehicle.

Sun 5th Feb 2006: Optare MetroRider The Optare MetroRider was Go North East's standard Minibus in the early 1990s, and were allocated throughout the GNE area. However all the Optare MetroRiders are gone except for 416 and 417 which remain on the Deptford Staff shuttle duties, though every now and again they spread their legs.

Wed 11th Mar 2009: Volvo (VDL) SB120 - Wright Merit Go North East aquired 6 Volvo SB120 / Wright Merits from Dealer Stock. They are the same as the VDL SB120s except they have square headlights like on 8242 - 8252 as opposed to round ones on the later batches. Plus they lack the air con pod. They can be found on the Highwayman services.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo B10B - Alexander Strider When Go North East bought OK Travel, 5 Alexander bodied Volvo B10Bs came with it. A further Alexander Strider B10B (4875) was purchased from Redby. Only 5 Striders remain with Go North East due to 4808 getting burnt out near Chopwell.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo B10B - Plaxton Verde Go North East ordered 4 Volvo B10Bs with Plaxton Bodywork, however these were diverted to Oxford, and another 4 later arrived in their place. They were orignally allocated to Winlaton, however they moved around been based at Bishop Auckland, before all 4 settling at Deptford, first finding use on the X20/X50, then on the X4 and 161, and finally on the X35. However all 4 were withdrawn in February 2007 and were transferred to Go West Midlands.

Wed 11th Mar 2009: Volvo B10BLE - Alexander ALX 300 Another individual vehicle in the Go North East fleet is 4993 - S590KJF, it was aquired from Beestons, and was the regular vehicle for unsuccessful X11 between Heworth and Peterlee where the vehicle recieved route branding. However the service was short lived and was at first used on various services around Gateshead, then went to Stanley before returning to Gateshead. Now the vehicle is based at Percy Main and it is used on just about anything.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo B7RLE - Wright Eclipse In 2005 Go North East bought 5 Volvo B7RLEs with Wright Eclipse bodywork to trial them along side the Scania L94UBs which carried the similar Wright Solar bodywork. Interior differences are that the B7RLE doesn't have back to back seats in the rear section. External differences are the larger radiator grill on the nearside at the rear, the large grill on the bonnet, and the fuel filler which is located at the rear of the B7RLE, as opposed to the middle on the Solar.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo B7TL - Wright Eclipse Gemini In 2005 Go North East bought 3 Volvo B7TLs with Wright Eclipse Gemini bodywork for the X10 service between Tyneside and Teesside. GNE purchased some more for service 724 from Newcastle to Bishop Auckland which are based at Chester Le Street Depot. In early 2007 they were painted into a darkish pink colour (darker shade than used on the pink panther) for service 21 which I guess is to be named after a landmark on the route. Most likely the Angel. Which can be seen in a couple of the photos.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo Olympian - East Lancs Pyoneer In 2005 Go North East bought 3 Volvo Olympians with ELC Pyoneer bodywork from Nottingham City Transport. They were originally based at Bishop Auckland, and were used in Nottingham Green with GNE blue on the rear. 3945/6 were fully painted before Bishop Auckland closed, and 3944/5/6 (3944 now fully painted) were transferred to Deptford.

These were Northern Counties Palatine 1 bodied, and were used to replace the older Leyland Olympians and MCW Metrobuses. They can be found at all of the depots except for Percy Main.

Fri 10th Feb 2006: Volvo Olympian - Northern Counties Palatine 2 Go North East bought 23 Volvo Olympians for South Shields to replace Leyland Atlanteans displace some Leyland Olympians to replace other Atlanteans and older Metrobuses. However after South Shields depot shut, they Palatine 2s have been split up between several depots.
